👩‍🏫 How to Explain by Age Group

  • Elementary (K–5)

    • A chatbot is like a robot you can talk to on a screen. You type or speak, and it answers back, like a helpful friend who lives inside your tablet or computer.

  • Middle School (6–8)

    • Chatbots are computer programs that talk with you. You might see one when you visit a website and it says, “How can I help?” It’s not a person, but it knows how to answer basic questions using AI.

  • High School (9–12)

    • "A chatbot is an AI-driven system designed to simulate human conversation, often through text. From customer service bots to tutoring tools, they use language models to generate relevant and coherent responses.

  • Elementary (K–5)

    • Have students pair up and take turns playing “chatbot” and “user.” One asks a question, the other must give a helpful answer without going off topic. Switch roles and reflect on what was easy or hard.

  • Middle School (6–8)

    • Ask students to visit a site that uses a chatbot (with guidance). Then discuss: Was the chatbot helpful? What could it not do well? As an option, explore a Vervotex-powered demo chatbot to see how it responds in a school setting.
